VW Caddy Campervan for sale
Selling our beloved tiny home. 212,XXXmi.
£4,999 - Details below.
The Van: 2006 VW Caddy 1.9L TDI

This tiny home on wheels is a 1.9L TDI Caddy III with a 6 speed DSG gearbox (yes it is automatic!). The gearbox still shifts smoothly (when in automatic or semi manual mode) and mechanically the van is running great! In late October the van has just had the EGR cooler repaired, a turbo clean and an oil change, in addition to a lot of other mechanical work (as mentioned in detail below). Current miles are 212,XXX which has included many motorway miles over its life.
The van is being sold after deciding to move from the UK. A lot of time has been spent on the van during the last 12 months. Our small, yet functional tiny home design took us roughly 2 months to build and about £2800 worth of materials. The design was built to be simple, bright and easy to access everything necessary, which is essential in a small space! This tiny home on wheels is about as efficient as you can move around with comfort and basic luxuries coming along with you. Something we appreciated hugely when fuel prices kept increasing!
The van was a perfect home for us during short local trips and big expeditions through western and northern Europe. We truly hope it can provide someone else the means for many magical trips in the future! Please have a read of other details below and reach out to us if you have any further questions. 🙂

The Tinyhome

Welcome to our tiny home on wheels! The space was designed to have a light and beachy feel, while maximising storage spaces. The cupboards are all open as cupboard doors are a pain in such small spaces and there are barriers in all places necessary to stop your belongs flying about. It's cozy, comfy and the ergonomics once sat inside will surprise! Here are some more in depth details...
Insulation: Insulation has been almost obsessively done throughout.
-
Wall and roof spaces were filled with cycled plastic and glass fibres, which are perfect as they soak up no moisture. The walls also consist of a layer reflective bubble wrap which covers the insulation.
-
Carpeting was done to cover almost all bare metal to provide a cosier feel, add to the insulation slightly and minimises condensation!
-
Additionally, insulated window covers were made for the front and rear.
-
The walls are cladded and finished with a protective varnish to protect from mould/mildew.
-
The flooring consists of a few layers:
-
A thin polystyrene layer (chosen to maximise headroom)
-
Reflective bubble wrap
-
13mm plywood
-
Hardy vinyl PVC floorboards - easy to maintain and feel great underfoot.
The couch/bed: Topped with a 5 inch memory foam mattress, the unit slides out to a large single bed. Very cozy for 2 or perfect for 1. Additionally, it is hinged at the rear so the unit can be lifted up for easier access beneath.
Kitchen: The kitchen area is angled out for ergonomics while sitting. It is equipped with a large sink and a foot pump to use the tap - which also great for water conservation! Talking about water, there is a 28L water container underneath (would last us 7-10 days at a time) and a 10L waste water container, both of which are strapped down during travel and can be easily taken out when necessary.
Storage: Storage is plentiful throughout.
-
Under the couch (which is hinged at the rear) for larger items.
-
Beneath the kitchen there is plenty of room around the water and waste water containers.
-
In the shelving unit (which can be accessed through the sliding door from outside).
-
In the driver’s seat well. We used this as one of our pantry spaces and were able to store a remarkable amount of food! The passenger’s side seat well contains the battery, but does also have some room available.
-
The overhead compartment above the front seats. Great for clothes.
-
Additionally, for more storage we can also include the huge roofbox we traveled with for an additionally £100.
Electrics:
-
110Ah battery which charges via a split charger off the main battery while driving.
-
12V lights throughout camper. 4 Down lights and 2 defused lead strips underneath the bed and kitchen.
-
Light switch control panel with USB-A chargers and battery voltage reading
-
Pure sine wave Victron 250VA inverter (400W peak power) to power 230V devices.
